Over a span of two days, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ final three picks have all been signed to their rookie contracts. The team announced they have finalized a deal with sixth round pick Travis Feeney.
Moved to the Buck and main pass rushing role for the Huskies, Feeney racked up 17.5 TFL and eight sacks last season. Financial terms were not disclosed but he’ll get a four year deal with roughly a $90K signing bonus, using last years numbers as a guide. Dave Bryan has estimated his 2016 cap hit at a touch over $475,000.
Considered an outside linebacker by the team, he’ll fight Anthony Chickillo for the 5th outside linebacker spot and special teams work. The Steelers as a unit have a logjam at linebacker with at least 11 worthy candidates fighting for ten spots. It feels almost certain that one of Feeney, Chickillo, and Tyler Matakevich will lose out in the numbers crunch.
