The Pittsburgh Steelers re-signed veteran wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey to a three-year, $3.8 million contract on Monday and the numbers have now been reported to the NFLPA.
Heyward-Bey received a $400,000 signing bonus as part of the new contract and his base salaries for the three years will be $1,000,000, $1,200,000 and $1,200,000. His yearly cap charges will be $1,133,333, $1,333,333 and $1,333,334.
This really is affordable deal for the Steelers and in all honestly, they can release Heyward-Bey as soon as next offseason without serious dead money charges should they need to.
In his first two seasons with the Steelers, Heyward-Bey signed one-year deals for the veteran minimum in addition to very small signing bonuses.
