The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their Wednesday injury report ahead of their Sunday regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns and it has eight players listed on it.
Not practicing on Wednesday were cornerback Antwon Blake (back), safety Mike Mitchell (shoulder), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (illness), linebacker James Harrison (illness), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related), cornerback William Gay (not injury related), and wide receiver Martavis Bryant (illness). Limited on Wednesday was cornerback Doran Grant (groin).
It’s quite evident that the flu bug is making its way around the Steelers locker room this week. With that said, I would fully expect Roethlisberger, Harrison and Bryant to all be ready to play come Sunday. As for Blake and Mitchell, their participation levels later on in the week will be a sign as to whether or not one or both will be able to play a against the Browns. Mitchell has battled a bad shoulder for a few weeks now while Blake left the game against the Ravens with back spasms.
Saturday, the Steelers might need to promote safety Ross Ventrone from the practice squad depending on what ultimately happens with Blake, Mitchell and Grant as the veteran might be needed on special teams.
