What’s a guy have to do to draw a fine?
Apparently, getting his legs taken out from underneath him isn’t enough.
Vontaze Burfict will not be fined for his low hit on Ben Roethlisberger last Sunday, per a report by Adam Schefter through Burfict’s agent.
There was no flag for the hit, either. Roethlisberger luckily avoided injury on the play.
This isn’t the first time we’ve been down this road. The Seattle Seahawks’ Michael Bennett was not fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit; however, he was flagged.
Perhaps the NFL determined he was pushed by Carlos Dunlap but given Burfict’s track record – a notoriously dirty player – and absolutely no attempt to avoid Roethlisberger’s ankles, it’s hard to buy that.
If you need a reminder, here is the hit the NFL has determined isn’t worthy of a fine.
