The Pittsburgh Steelers figure to have quite a few names listed on their first injury report of the week that will be released Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday, however, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the health of several injured players during his weekly press conference.
Tomlin starting things off by saying that veteran safety Will Allen (ankle) is still working through his left ankle injury that he suffered in Week 5.
“We’ll see what participation looks like for him as we push through the week,” said Tomlin.
As for defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), who suffered a sprained knee in Sunday’s win over the Arizona Cardinals, Tomlin said the team will leave the light on for him this week in hopes that he will be able to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
“We’ll take a look at him as we proceed through the week as well,” said Tomlin. “I saw him walking pretty good yesterday. We’ll see what tomorrow holds in terms of his ability to bounce back, or not bounce back. We’ll do whats appropriate there.
Tomlin said that he imagines that linebackers Jarvis Jones (hip) and Ryan Shazier (shoulder) will be well enough to participate this week. He didn’t, however, update the status of cornerback Cortez Allen (knee), who has sat out since Week 1 with a knee problem.
