The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing to play the Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday and their Wednesday injury report has now been released ahead of that game.
Not practicing on Wednesday were defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee), Safety Will Allen (ankle), cornerback Antwon Blake (thumb) and quarterback Mike Vick (hamstring).
Blake is apparently wearing some sort of cast on his thumb so that’s worth noting as the week progresses. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not mention him on Tuesday when he ran down the list of injured players.
As for Tuitt, the team hopes he can battle back quickly from the knee sprain that he suffered this past Sunday.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) and cornerback Cortez Allen (knee) were both limited on Wednesday. As reported earlier, Roethlisberger is attempting to test out a knee brace this week and the team is currently preparing for Landry Jones to make his first career start on Sunday.
Linebacker Ryan Shazier (shoulder) and linebacker Jarvis Jones (hip) both practiced fully on Wednesday and we can only hope that both will be able to return to action Sunday against the Chiefs. Shazier has been sidelined since Week 2 while Jones missed his first game of the season this past Sunday.
Tight end Matt Spaeth (not injury related), cornerback William Gay (not injury related), and linebacker James Harrison (not injury related) were all reportedly given veterans’ days off by Tomlin on Wednesday.
