2015 NFL Week 5 Stats: Adjusted Net Yards Per Passing Attempt Differential

Prior to Week 6 of the 2015 NFL season getting underway Thursday night, now is a great time to check in on the ANY/A differential stats of all 32 teams in the league through Week 5.

As you probably already know by now, I like to use this differential stat to formulate my own personal power rankings and especially starting around Week 6 of the season.

As you can see I the table below, the Arizona Cardinals currently lead the league in ANY/A differential heading into Week 6 of the season. It is worth pointing out, however, that their four wins have come against four teams who are currently in the bottom five in the league in ANY/A differential. So, are the Cardinals for real? I think it’s still too early to tell, but we’ll get a good look at them this coming Sunday as they’ll play the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at Heinz Field.

As for the Steelers, they currently own the 12th-best ANY/A differential in the league heading into their game against the Cardinals and two of their games included backup quarterback Mike Vick starting for the inured Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers defensive ANY/A is currently 6.49 and that’s slightly higher than the leagues 6.26 average. Should that number go higher over the course of the next games, there’s a good chance that they will have lost those two games and especially since Vick very well could wind up starting in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs in addition to this coming Sunday against the Cardinals

As far as other things that stick out in this week’s update, you can clearly see that the Denver Broncos defense is carrying the team’s offense. The Broncos do have a good ANY/A differential, but the ANY/A stat for their offense (4.78) is absolutely disgusting. Should, however, quarterback Peyton Manning start improving, the 5-0 Broncos could be a force come playoff time. Much like the Cardinals, however, their five wins so far this season have come against teams who currently sport poor offensive ANY/A numbers.

I’ll continue to keep you updated on this stat as the season progresses.
