Easily the biggest source of frustration from fans following Thursday’s game was the goose egg left in the snaps column for Pittsburgh Steelers’ cornerback Brandon Boykin.
Mike Tomlin was not willing to clear up the situation during his Tuesday press conference.
“We’ll see…obviously he’s under strong consideration,” Tomlin told reporters when asked if Boykin was expected to play this week.
He replied with a short, “We chose to play other people” in response to why Boykin did not see a snap on defense in the 28-21 loss to the New England Patriots.
However, Boykin has seen first team nickel snaps during practice this week, according to a report yesterday from Ed Bouchette.
Tomlin was also asked about the new depth chart, listing Cortez Allen and Antwon Blake as co-starting right cornerbacks.
“We like some of the things we’ve seen from both guys. There’s been inconsistency from both guys.”
Blake has never taken a snap at right cornerback and it would be a little more than surprising to see him actually get snaps there Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
