Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media Wednesday ahead of the team’s Friday night preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and he shed some light on which players will see action this weekend.
“Our intentions at this point is that all healthy men are going to play in the football game,” said Tomlin. “How much they play will be determined positionally. Not only in terms of some of the established guys we need to see, but the quality and amount of depth behind them. We’ll make those determinations at the 11th hour to give all the guys that are partial participants, or nursing minor injuries associated with training camp and the preseason, to give them the best opportunity to participate in the game.”
Tomlin did, however, rule out several players for Friday night’s game and that list includes safety Robert Golden, nose tackle Daniel McCullers, safety Ross Ventrone, linebacker Vince Williams, quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, tackle Mike Adams and cornerback Senquez Golson.
“You can characterize those guys as out, said Tomlin. “I’m going to leave the light on for every other man not mentioned and we’ll see where that takes us.”
