Report: Steelers S Robert Golden ‘Dodged a Bullet’

The news about injured Pittsburgh Steelers safety Robert Golden has been positive so far just one day after the former undrafted free agent suffered a knee injury during the two-minute portion of practice.

Thursday afternoon, Bob Labriola of steelers.com posted on Twitter that Golden “dodged a bullet” and that he’s currently limping around the campus of Saint Vincent College without the need of crutches. He is, however, reportedly wearing a compression sleeve on his injured knee.

Golden will likely be sidelined for quite a while with what is likely a sprained ligament in his knee. That, however, is better than being out for the entire season as head coach Mike Tomlin termed Golden’s injury a significant one following Wednesday’s practice.

While Golden could certainly use the work in practice and the preseason this year, at least he’s been with the team for three years, so he should have a solid grasp of the defense as a result.

As previously mentioned, the Steelers have several injured safeties as they had into their tenth training camp practice Thursday so it won’t be surprising at all to see Will Allen, Gerod Holliman, Ian Wild, Alden Darby and Isaiah Lewis get the bulk of the reps heading into the weekend if Shamarko Thomas, Mike Mitchell and Ross Ventrone are all still unable to practice with their minor injuries.
