Steelers.com has been conducting a “Getting to Know” mini-series to pass the time during the offseason. It’s mostly uneventful and likely a questionnaire that just gets emailed out to players.
But there’s been a common thread over the last two editions. When asked to pick out a football mentor, Robert Golden and Ramon Foster chose former safety Ryan Clark.
From Golden: “Ryan Clark. When I first got here he welcomed me in with open arms and he took the same route I took. Ryan Clark is definitely the guy.”
From Foster: “My guy Ryan Clark. He is the guy that brought me under his wing.”
Golden’s selection isn’t terribly surprising, one safety picking another. Foster choosing him may raise an eyebrow but definitely makes sense considering the circumstances. Clark came into the league as a UDFA like Foster, and Golden for that matter, too. There’s a common bond already formed between them. Their comments just further the fact that Clark is a professional and wonderful person.
Clark is currently running “Safety U” in Scottsdale, Arizona.
