The major media mock drafts are now back in full swing now that 2015 NFL Scouting Combine is over and on Wednesday Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network released his latest edition.
Jeremiah, who previously gave the Pittsburgh Steelers Florida State cornerback P.J. Williams in his last mock, now has Virginia outside linebacker Eli Harold headed to Pittsburgh with the 22nd overall selection.
Jeremiah writes:
The Steelers could upgrade the secondary or offensive line here, but they also need to address the pass rush. Harold is a perfect fit.
Harold, who measured in at the combine at just over 6’3″ and weighed 247 pounds, recorded just 7.5 sacks last season at Virginia with 5.5 of those coming in three games. The Virginia Beach native also recorded 54 total tackles last season with 14.5 of those resulting in a loss.
The Steelers will surely draft an outside linebacker or two in the 2015 NFL Draft and while Harold does fit their needs, I cant help but wonder if he’s really a first-round player. In my latest mock draft I have the Steelers drafting Harold in the second round.
Jeremiah also has Harold going off the board ahead of Kentucky outside linebacker Alvin Dupree.
As far as Williams goes, Jeremiah has now dropped him from the first round entirely and the same goes for Washington cornerback Marcus Peters as he’s also no longer listed in his latest mock.
