You don’t have to worry about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger getting injured in the Pro Bowl this year as the veteran has decided not to play in it.
According to the official website of the New Orleans Saints, Roethlisberger will be replaced on the Pro Bowl roster by quarterback Drew Brees.
Roethlisberger’s decision to skip the Pro Bowl is probably a wise one as not only is he likely to need a procedure done on one of his knees now that the season is over, he’s also likely to get a new long-term contract extension at some point as well. Roethlisberger has nothing to gain by playing in the annual all-star game with so much on the line this offseason. Roethlisberger last played in a Pro Bowl game in 2012.
With Roethlisberger now deciding to sit out the Pro Bowl this year, that leaves wide receiver Antonio Brown, running back Le’Veon Bell, center Maurkice Pouncey and linebacker Lawrence Timmons as the remaining Steelers players who will more than likely play in the game that will be held in Arizona — the host site of Super Bowl XLIX.
