Below are the initial player snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday win over the Atlanta Falcons, according to the NFL official gamebook. As usual, we will see if any of these differ in our weekly game charting as the week progresses. These snaps do not include plays wiped out by penalties.
Offensively, the Steelers chose not to use wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey once again this week. In addition, rookie running back Josh Harris also failed to see the field on offense as Le’Veon Bell played every snap. Fullback Will Johnson wasn’t used as much this week as represented by his 16 total snaps.
Defensively for the Steelers, cornerback B.W. Webb saw his first playing time against the Falcons as he logged three non-penalty snaps. This was probably because cornerback Brice McCain was dinged up a few plays in the first half.
Defensive end Cam Thomas only played 11 snaps against the Falcons and I noted that several of those came in the nickel. Rookie Daniel McCullers played a six snaps total while fellow rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier only managed four snaps Sunday.
