When the Pittsburgh Steelers square off against the Cincinnati Bengals in the regular season finale they won’t have to face linebacker Vontaze Burfict once again as he was placed on injured reserve Tuesday because of an ongoing problem with his left knee.
Burfict reportedly had arthroscopic knee surgery in late October and the hope was that he would eventually be able to make it back late in the season.
Last season, Burfict led the NFL with 171 tackles, but this season he only registered 29 in the five games that he played in.
The Bengals had problems stopping the Steelers this past Sunday when they ran running back Le’Veon Bell to the left side. This week the Bengals defense will have the chore of trying to contain the Cleveland Browns running game in a key AFC North game.
The Browns ran for 170 yards in the last meeting between the two teams back in early November.
Should the Brown beat the Bengals again this Sunday, the Steelers will take over the top spot in the AFC North if they can beat the Atlanta Falcons.
