The Pittsburgh Steelers had a hard fought win Monday night over the Tennessee Titans thanks to the 200-plus yard performance by running back Le’Veon Bell, but his backfield mate apparently wasn’t a happy camper afterwards.
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, running back LeGarrette Blount left the field before the game was over after seeing very limited playing time against the Titans.
Blount, who gained zero yards on five carries last Sunday against the New York Jets, dressed quickly and headed for the team bus after failing to log a carry Monday night, according to Bouchette, who also added that one Steelers player suggested that the team leave him behind in Nashville.
If indeed Blount acted out this way it is very unfortunate and it will be interesting to see how head coach Mike Tomlin handles him moving forward. The Steelers have a bye upcoming so Tomlin isn’t likely to have to meet the media again until a week from Tuesday.
The Steelers had no choice but to ride Bell’s hot hand in the game. In addition, Blount looked like he didn’t know the snap count on one play that he was in for Monday night.
Blount signed a two-year, $3.85 million contract back in March. The deal included a $950,000 signing bonus and rushing yardage incentives.
UPDATE via: Aditi Kinkhabwala: When Blount stalked out of locker room barely after team got in there, it was Joey Porter who talked him back inside.
