LeGarrette Blount Runs For 78 Yards, 2 TDs In First Game Back With Patriots

If things go well for New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount for the remainder of the year, he will likely be just one of a few players to play in 17 regular-season games in 2014.

In his first game back in a Patriots uniform following him being waived Tuesday by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Blount rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in the 34-9 win over the Detroit Lions.

The Patriots apparently signed Blount back just in time as it gave them the opportunity to punish rookie running back Jonas Gray Sunday for oversleeping on Friday and being late for practice. Gray, who was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week this past week, was active for the Patriots Sunday game against the Lions but apparently did not play a snap.

After Blount’s first of two scores against the Lions, he proceeded to do the touchdown dance that Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has been known to do when he scores.

Blount was waived by the Steelers for walking off of the field last Monday night before the game against the Tennessee Titans was over.
