The Pittsburgh Steelers came out of their 30-23 win over the Houston Texans Monday night in good shape health wise as right tackle Marcus Gilbert was the only player listed by head coach Mike Tomlin as being injured during his post game press conference.
Gilbert, who left the game in the second quarter with a concussion, never returned and Tomlin said he would go through the mandatory protocol this coming week before being allowed to return to the field.
At one point late in the third quarter, left tackle Kelvin Beachum suffered a shoulder injury, but he was able to return without missing a play thanks to the quarter ending. Had Beachum been forced to miss any snaps, Tomlin told the media after the game that center Maurkice Pouncey would have been moved out to left tackle.
The Steelers will have a short week now to prepare for the Indianapolis Colts, so look for several veteran players to be given days off early in the week.
