The Pittsburgh Steelers Friday injury report has now been released and it’s looking like a few of the team’s younger defensive players won’t make it back this week for the game Monday night against the Houston Texans.
After being limited Thursday, safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) wasn’t able to participate Friday and he is now all but out this week.
Limited on Friday were fullback Will Johnson (illness), defensive end Brett Keisel (knee), safety Michael Mitchell (knee) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee). The fact that Shazier is still unable to practice fully is not a good a sign. As for Johnson, Keisel and Mitchell, they are trending in the right direction and the hope is that all three will be able to work fully during Saturday’s practice.
Safety Troy Polamalu (not injury related) practiced fully after being given Thursday off, while nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) and cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm) were both ruled out for Monday night earlier in the week by head coach Mike Tomlin.
