The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered quite a few injuries during their Sunday night win over the Carolina Panthers and head coach Mike Tomlin discussed all of them during his Tuesday press conference as the team prepares to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday at Heinz Field.
Tomlin officially announced that linebacker Jarvis Jones (wrist) has had his wrist surgery and that he’s been placed on the injured reserve list with the designated to return tab.
“We’ll see how that goes,” said Tomlin. “Right now he’s simply in the recovery phase. We’ll start visiting with him next week about the process of moving forward and coming back.”
Cornerback Ike Taylor had a plate inserted into his broken right forearm,” according to Tomlin, who indicated that he’ll be kept on the roster. Taylor will be looked at weekly. He’ll be out several weeks before the team gets into a discussion about his possible return
The knee injury suffered by linebacker Ryan Shazier is not significant, but the rookie will be out this week. Tomlin described the injury as a knee sprain. He’ll be reevaluated at the beginning of next week.
Tomlin expects rookie running back Dri Archer (ankle) to participate more in practice this week. Archer has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.
Guard Ramon Foster (ankle) will practice this week in some capacity. They will leave the light on for him this week and it all depends on his level of participation.
