The Pittsburgh Steelers held on to beat the Cleveland Browns 30-27 Sunday in their 2014 regular season opener and below are a few animated gifs of plays from the game.
The play that will likely be talked about all week included wide receiver Antonio Brown karate-kicking Browns punter Spencer Lanning at the end of a 36-yard punt return. Brown was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play and it will likely result in him being fined early next week.
On his 35-yard touchdown pass to Brown with 9:59 left in the second quarter, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger managed to avoid the rush and deliver a strike on the move outside the pocket. This is just Ben being Ben.
The Steelers decision to run a fake punt from their own 20-yard-line with 9:28 left in regulation is a call that head coach Mike Tomlin said he made. As you can see below in the all-22 look, it helped that gunner Antwon Blake was uncovered on the outside. All upback Robert Golden had to do on the play is just not throw it over Blake’s head.
