Pittsburgh Steelers second-year linebacker Vince Williams was carted off of the practice field Tuesday afternoon and head coach Mike Tomlin announced after practice that the former sixth-round draft pick may have suffered a concussion and that he’s currently being evaluated.
Also failing to finish Tuesday’s practice were cornerback Shaquille Richardson (undisclosed), fullback Will Johnson (undisclosed) and guard Ramon Foster (knee). Foster has some knee swelling, according to Tomlin, who believes all of the injuries suffered Tuesday are minor in nature.
Tomlin did not update the status of linebacker Jarvis Jones (undisclosed), who sat out Tuesday’s practice. Jones was bothered by a groin problem early on in training camp so perhaps that is what is ailing him now.
The Steelers now have two practices remaining in their 2014 training camp and both of those will include scrimmaging the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday and Thursday. The team will break camp Friday and play the Bills Saturday night at Heinz Field in what will be their second preseason game.
