The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Saturday practice at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe and the team was able to get through their session without suffering any new injuries.
“Things are on the up and up from a health standpoint – no new injuries today,” said head coach Mike Tomlin after practice. “A lot of guys continuing to work themselves back in some form or fashion, the guys we’ve been talking about the last couple of days and I’m sure that will continue.”
Tomlin also gave an update on safety Mike Mitchell (groin) who currently remains on the PUP list.
“He had another good work today,” said Tomlin of Mitchell. “Like those others I mentioned that we’ve been talking about, he’s taking significant steps, getting closer. We’ll see what he looks like tomorrow.”
The list of other players sitting out Saturday’s practice because of injuries includes linebacker Jordan Zumwalt (groin), tight end Rob Blanchflower (ankle), wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (concussion) and cornerback Shaquille Richardson (groin).
Tight end Heath Miller (coach’s decision) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (coach’s decision) were both given the day off Saturday, according to Tomlin.
The Steelers will get back after it again on Sunday as the team is not scheduled to have another day off until Tuesday.
