Free agent cornerback Brandon Flowers remains unsigned following his Thursday visit with the San Diego Chargers, but according to a Friday report, he isn’t currently scheduled to visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Scott Brown of ESPN.com reports Friday that according to a source of his, the former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback has no plans to visit with the Steelers even though a Wednesday report by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports included Pittsburgh as one of several teams that were monitoring Flowers’ situation.
When asked on Thursday if the team was open to signing any free agents prior to the start of training camp, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave the usual company line when he responded to the question.
“I’m not opposed to anything that will increase our chances of winning. We’re open to all possibilities,” Tomlin said at the conclusion of offseason practices.
In a Thursday evening report, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that a source had informed him that Flowers will visit at least one other team before making a decision as to where to play in 2014. So far, the Chargers are the only team that he’s reportedly visited.
