A few days ago, Greg Aiello, spokesman for the NFL, called a report that stated the Pittsburgh Steelers were one of three finalists for HBO show “Hard Knocks”, “totally inaccurate.” If, however, the Steelers are ultimately chosen to be the subject otter of this year’s training camp documentary, there’s one veteran player that’s all for taking part in it.
During his recent appearance on the Dave Dameshek Podcast, Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor was asked to weigh in with his thoughts about the Hard Knock rumors.
“I don’t know about the rumors, but if you would have asked me that a couple of years ago, I would said, no. But if you ask me that today, I’m going to say, yeah, I want that Hard Knocks,” said Taylor.
With 2014 likely to be Taylor’s last year in the league, he wasn’t shy about telling why he would like to be on the long-running HBO reality football show.
“Might as well get my publicity up,” said Taylor. “That Hard Knocks, everybody going to see my personality and I got a great personality and a physique.”
While we aren’t likely to know which team will be chosen for Hard Knocks for a few more weeks, there’s no denying that Taylor would make a great main character. He’s as honest and colorful as they come and would surely be a hit.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made it clear back in March that he has no interest in having his team be the subject matter of Hard Knocks and general manager Kevin Colbert pretty much shares his sentiments.
Regardless, you have know that HBO is probably pushing hard to get the Steelers because of their popularity and global fan base, and we now know that Taylor is pushing for it as well.
