During his Saturday post practice talk with the media, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that sixth-round draft pick, linebacker Jordan Zumwalt, will miss OTA practice time due to UCLA being on the quarter system.
“Zumwalt and Shaquille [Richardson] will be limited by that,” said Tomlin. “I don’t know their potential return dates. That’s something we’ll figure out along the way. But those are the guys that we acknowledge will be limited in their OTA participation.”
As I noted on Friday, the Zumwalt news is not surprising, however, in the case of Shaquille Richardson, it is my understanding that Arizona is on a semester system and not quarters. At least that’s what their website says.
The University of Arizona is on the semester system. The fall semester starts in late August and ends in December. The spring semester starts in January and ends in mid-May. Whereas The University of Arizona has two summer sessions, the MIS department does not normally offer MIS courses during the summer sessions.
The Steelers rookie mini camp should wrap up on Sunday.
