Following reports earlier in the day that Pittsburgh Steelers free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is headed to the wideout-depleted Carolina Panthers tomorrow for a visit, it has now been reported by Jason La Canfora that the Steelers are bringing in former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore on Tuesday.
Moore, released by the Saints in a cap-saving move ahead of the start of free agency, has played his entire nine-year career in New Orleans after originally signing with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2005.
Moore has made 30 starts in his career, compiling 346 receptions for 4281 yards and 38 touchdowns.
He had a big year in 2012, averaging 16 yards on 65 catches for 1041 yards and six touchdowns, but he struggled through injuries last season and his overall production was halved or worse in most areas.
At 5’9”, Moore has often been pegged as primarily a deep threat. He figures to be a fallback option should the Panthers offer Cotchery a contract that he couldn’t turn down to return to Pittsburgh.
