Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will likely have a very full day Monday down in Florida.
According to several reports, Tomlin will talk to the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team down in Bradenton prior to their afternoon game against the New York Yankees and from there, it’s easy to speculate that he we go north to Gainesville to take in the University of Florida Pro Day.
While several former Gators will be showing their stuff on Monday to scouts and NFL front offices, you have to wonder if Tomlin will have a real close eye on defensive back Jaylen Watkins, who is coming off a great showing at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine a few weeks ago by running his 40 yard dash in 4.41 seconds and benching 225 pounds 22 times.
The 5’11” versatile defensive back just so happens to be the brother of Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who is considered by many to be a top-ten draft pick this year.
The Steelers will almost certainly draft one cornerback in May and it won’t be surprising to see them double-dip at the position. In addition to Watkins, cornerbacks Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson are also expected to try and improve their numbers from the combine on Monday as well.
