According to Tony Pauline of draftinsider.net, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert were both seen spending time with Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert Wednesday night.
Gilbert had his Pro Day on Thursday and according to Pauline, “he looked the part” during it. Both Tomlin and Colbert were present for that as well.
The Steelers need a cornerback in this draft and there’s an outside chance Gilbert will still be on the board when the 15th pick comes around. In his latest mock draft released on Thursday, ESPN draftnik Mel Kiper Jr. now has the Gilbert going to the Steelers.
Both Tomlin and Colbert also attended the Pro Day of Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard several days ago, so they are really serious about getting to know these two young players.
Told Kevin Colbert & Steelers coaches seen with Justin Gilbert/CB/Oklahoma St last night…Gilbert very much "looked the part" at pro-day..
