On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers free agent safety Ryan Clark was nominated as a candidate to become the new NFLPA union president, however, after a Wednesday vote by the team player reps, Eric Winston will now replace outgoing president Domonique Foxworth.
Winston not only beat put Clark, but Ben Watson as well. Many thought that Watson, who most recently served on the NFLPA’s executive committee, might be the favorite to replace Foxworth, but the team player reps obviously thought otherwise.
It is unknown whether or not Clark will be part of the NFLPA 11-man executive committee, which is expected to have at least seven additional vacancies this year, according to previous reports.
Clark, who has been the Steelers player rep for the last few seasons, took to Twitter to congradulate Winston.
Congrats to new NFLPA President Eric Winston
