Following the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-28 loss Sunday to the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was asked if he knew why the offense didn’t run as much in the second half. While I do not know what tone was used in his answer, Roethlisberger’s reply will surely make a few waves.
“No idea. Coach [Todd] Haley’s over there. You can ask him,” Roethlisberger said.
We will get into the specifics of the second half a little later on, but Roethlisberger was also asked following the game if the Steelers need to be remade after two straight non-winning seasons. According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network, the quarterback declined to answer that question.
The Steelers are still mathematically alive for the playoffs, but we all know that the loss to the Dolphins was more than likely the final nail in the coffin being as the Baltimore Ravens won on Sunday.
You have to think that regardless of what has happened as far as the progress made on offense over the course of the last few weeks, that offensive coordinator Todd Haley very well could be gone following the season. As hard as both have tried to make it seem like everything is fine between them, you can’t help but think that there is still some sort of disconnect.
