The official NFL league transactions are now in for Saturday and the Pittsburgh Steelers have chosen not to promote guard Chris Hubbard from the practice squad.
With David DeCastro ruled out on the Friday injury report with an ankle injury, this means the Steelers will only dress seven offensive linemen on Sunday for the game against the New England Patriots after dressing eight the previous two weeks.
There was no guarantee that Hubbard would be promoted from the practice squad, but being as both Ramon Foster and Guy Whimper were injured last week and unable to finish the game, you have to wonder if the decision crossed the mind of head coach Mike Tomlin.
Not promoting Hubbard also means that Foster has been given full clearance to play after suffering a concussion last week. Whimper, who suffered a left hyper-extended knee last week, is expected to start at right guard with DeCastro out.
