Below are the snaps counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday 21-18 loss to the Oakland Raiders along with some observations
Being as nose tackles Steve McLendon and Al Woods combined to play 45 snaps, you can clearly see that the Steelers defense were in their base well over 70% of the time. It is even clearer when you see that Cortez Allen only played 14 snaps and Shamarko Thomas played just 11. The Steelers want to be in their sub packages as many plays as possible much as possible.
After sitting out last week against the Baltimore Ravens, linebacker Jarvis Jones only played 10 snaps against the Raiders as Jason Worilds received the lion’s share of the snaps at right outside linebacker.
