According to Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest on Twitter, running back Isaac Redman has been announced as the starter for the Saturday night preseason opener against the New York Giants for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It is not overly surprising that Redman gets the start ahead of rookie Le\’Veon Bell as head coach Mike Tomlin only said on Thursday that his second-round draft pick might see time with the first team.
Bell should get his share of work as he continues his climb up the depth chart. Bell has been the most impressive of the backs thus far in training camp and it\’s only a matter of time until he is named the starter.
In short, Redman starting means absolutely nothing.
