As expected, third-year cornerback Curtis Brown is not in uniform Saturday night for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to take on the New York Giants in their preseason opener at Heinz Field.
According to Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Twitter, Brown, who injured his ankle several days ago in practice, will sit the game out.
Head coach Mike Tomlin did not indicate how long the former third-round draft pick would be sidelined when he updated his status after practice last week.
Brown, a strong special teams player for the Steelers, really could use a lot of playing time during the preseason after having a poor showing late last season in limited action. Brown was pulled from the game against the San Diego Chargers last season and replaced by undrafted free agent Josh Victorian after he gave up several easy completions and an easy touchdown.
