Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cortez Allen has missed several days of practice so far in training camp due to what was initially characterized as knee discomfort. On Friday, head coach Mike Tomlin said via statement on steelers.com that Allen had minor surgery on his right knee earlier in the day and that it was done now in order to allow him enough time to rehab.
Also according to Tomlin, the surgery was minor and and it will have no long-term effects on Allen\’s return to the field., which should be in a couple of weeks.
I posted on Twitter Thursday that this was a fear of fine being as he had been sidelined for quite a few days. At least they are taking care of it now and hopefully he will be ready for the start of the regular season at the latest.
In the meantime, William Gay will most likely be filling in for Allen opposite Ike Taylor and Curtis Brown will come in to play the outside in the sub package as Gay shifts inside to play the nickel.
