The Pittsburgh Steelers have already started their Thursday training camp practice as they continue to prepare to take on the New York Giants Saturday night in their 2013 preseason opener.
Not practicing on Thursday are the usual suspects as cornerbacks Cortez Allen (knee), Terry Hawthorne (knee), DeMarcus Van Dyke (hamstring) and Curtis Brown (ankle) remain sidelined with their injuries, according to Jim Wexell of Steel City Insider.
Tight end Matt Spaeth (foot) is also out Thursday after injuring his foot Wednesday. Head coach Mike Tomlin said earlier in the day during his press conference that Spaeth was back in Pittsburgh having his injury further evaluated.
Wexell also reports that defensive ends Nick Williams (unknown) and Cameron Heyward (unknown) are also sidelined on Thursday. Williams missed several practices early in training camp with a knee injury, so perhaps it flared up on him again. There is no word as to why Heyward is sidelined.
ETA: Wexell has now added wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to his list of players not working on Thursday.
