The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Thursday that they have inked another one of their nine draft picks as cornerback Terry Hawthorne has signed a four-year contract.
Hawthorne was drafted in the fifth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Steelers out of Illinois where he recorded six interceptions, 22 pass breakups and 162 total tackles in 44 games played.
The terms of the rookie deal haven\’t been announced, but Hawthorne\’s contract is expected to total out at about $2.35 million and include a a signing bonus of around $191,000. The four year base salaries that Hawthorne will earn will be $405,000, $495,000, $585,000 and $675,000.
The Steelers now have three of their draft picks signed as both safety Shamarko Thomas and linebacker Vince Williams have already come to terms.
Hawthorne will reportedly miss quite a bit of the Steelers off-season practices after having bone chips recently removed from one of his knees. He is expected to be ready for training camp, however.
