According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports on Twitter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to re-sign wide receiver Plaxico Burress to a one-year veteran contract for the minimum in the coming days.
Burress, who was signed late last season after wide receivers Antonio Brown and Jerricho Cotchery went down with injures, registered 3 catches for 42 yards and a touchdown in limited playing time.
The minimum deal might very well wind up being a qualifying contract that would come with a reduced cap charge.
The Steelers will lose unrestricted free agent Mike Wallace to free agency by the end of the day on Tuesday and Burress will help add depth to the roster. Burress has long been a close friend of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who more than likely pushed for his re-signing.
