I am a little bit behind and am just catching up, but here are your TOX stats from week 12 of the 2012 NFL season along with the year to date numbers for all 32 teams at the bottom. The +2 teams were 11-2 that week and that brings the year to date +2 number through week 12 to 94-20 -1 (82%), which is just right above the expected 80% number.
Teams with a +1 TOX stat finished 0-2 for the week and that year to date number is a meaningless 22-16 overall. I will not be tracking the +1 number next season as it is a worthless indicator.
The Pittsburgh Steelers of course fell hard in the week 12 rankings thanks to their 8 turnovers and -7 TOX number that week. This goes to show you that year to date numbers can really be skewed by one bad week. Of course multiple bad weeks probable means that you have lost multiple games, but overall the year to date numbers should reflect positive numbers for playoff caliber teams.
I will have the Week 13 numbers out later this week.
I will be tracking this stat throughout the year as it is a good measuring stick to show how important explosive plays and turnovers are in each and every game.
