Pittsburgh Steelers 2012 Training Camp Roster & How It Was Built

The Pittsburgh Steelers report to training camp in Latrobe today with a completely filled 90 man roster. This time of year it is always fun to look over the roster heading into camp and see exactly how it was built.

You will notice that 40 of the 90 players on the roster are draft picks made by the Steelers, of which 9 are from the 2012 draft class. The breakdown consist of 10 first round picks, 4 second round picks, 7 third round picks, 5 fourth round picks, 4 fifth round picks, 3 sixth round picks and 7 seventh round picks.

The roster also includes 25 undrafted free agents that were originally signed by the Steelers, this list of players is of course headlined by James Harrison, Greg Warren, Doug Legursky, Ramon Foster, Steve McLendon and Isaac Redman.

There are 11 players on the training camp roster that were originally drafted by other teams and that list of players is headlined by Charlie Batch, Byron Leftwich, Will Allen, Jerricho Cotchery and Leonard Pope.

The remaining 14 players were all undrafted free agents that had originally started their NFL careers with other teams. The most notable on that list is Ryan Clark, who the Steelers signed as an unrestricted free agent back in March of 2006.
