Peter King of Sports Illustrated reported via Twitter on Saturday that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has finished up his Bachelor\’s of Science degree in Education from Miami (Ohio) University and will walk with the graduates on Sunday. Roethlisberger left college after the 2003 season to enter the 2004 NFL draft and was selected by the Steelers with the 11th overall pick in the first round.
King took quite a bit of abuse on Twitter for congratulating Roethlisberger on his efforts and defended him by saying that the Steelers quarterback was never charged or convicted for two separate sexual assault allegations. He stated that Roethlisberger had served his four game ban handed down to him by the league in 2010, and by all accounts has been a standup guy since.
Congrats to Ben Roethlisberger for getting his Bachelor\’s of Science degree in Education from Miami (Ohio) Sunday. He\’ll walk with grads.

Roethlisberger has been constantly active for several years with his own foundation that bears his own name. The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation has provided several grants for K-9 dogs and their training to police and fire departments all over the country and those actions very rarely get media coverage outside of the city that he helps.
Roethlisberger married Ashley Harlan, a physician\’s assistant from New Castle, Pennsylvania last July and he is heading to Ireland and Scotland next month, where he will play some of the finest and most difficult courses in the world to mentally prepare himself for the upcoming season.
Kudos to Roethlisberger for getting his degree and double kudos to King for setting the facts straight on Twitter.
