Roethlisberger Meets With Haley As Steel City Stare Down Comes To An End

EXTRA, EXTRA!!! Pittsburgh Post Gazette beart writer Ed Bouchette reported on Tuesday via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has finally sat down and talked to new offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Haley was introduced as the replacement for Bruce Arians back on February 9th. The Steel City Stare Down lasted a total of 12 days and there is no word as of yet who indeed blinked first, not that it matters.

Roethlisberger had shared his concerns about what Haley will do offensively after it was announced that he would be taking over for Arians. He also talked about what he hopes the coaching style will be of Haley as it relates to his history of getting in the faces of players he has already coached. Haley had announced during his introductory press conference that if a a player is sensitive, then Pittsburgh will not likely be a place a player wants to be.

Regardless of how it all went down on Tuesday, it is good to finally get this chapter of the book closed. It also will no longer serve as a distraction to general manager Kevin Colbert, head coach Mike Tomlin and Haley himself as the group heads off to Indianapolis for the 2012 NFL combine. We can all now remove the tin foil from our heads for at least a little while.

ETA: Bouchette did not say that the meeting necessarily took place today, but Mark Kaboly reported on Monday that Roethlisberger told him the two had not yet met.
