The Pro Bowl voting ended two days ago and the final fan voting results are in. Both the AFC and NFC Pro Bowl teams are based on the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches and each of the group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the rosters for each conference. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on December 21-22. The teams will be announced at 7:00 pm (ET) Tuesday, December 27 on a special NFL Total Access 2012 Pro Bowl Selection Show on NFL Network. The 2012 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2012 and televised live on NBC at 7:00 pm (ET) from Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Two Pittsburgh Steelers players led the voting for their respected positions and they were center Maurkice Pouncey with 376,457 votes and safety Troy Polamalu with 230,649 votes. It would be the 2nd year in a row for Pouncey, who also was elected to the Pro Bowl last year for his rookie season for the AFC and the 7th time for Polamalu. Both of course did not play in the All-Star game last year as they played in the Super Bowl instead.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Mike Wallace both finished in the top 10 of overall vote getters in the fan voting, but neither led their respected position in votes. Roethlisberger finished 8th overall in votes received with 935,535, while Wallace finished 10th overall with 923,073 votes. Should Roethlisberger and Wallace both get the honors, it would be the second of such for Big Ben and the first for Wallace.
Below are the top 10 results along with the final votes by position for the AFC.
