As announced by the NFL this evening at 7 pm EST, there are five Steelers players who\’ve been selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl.
Ben Roethlisberger will serve as the backup quarterback behind New England\’s Tom Brady. Philip Rivers will serve as the third quarterback on the AFC roster.
Mike Wallace who has 71 catches, 1,182 yards and eight touchdowns on the season, will join Wes Welker, A.J. Green and Brandon Marshall in the receiving corps. Wallace was selected as a starter.
Antonio Brown was not selected as a receiver, but will serve as a kick returner on the AFC\’s special teams roster.
Strong safety, Troy Polamalu, was again selected to the Pro Bowl as a starter.
Maurkice Pouncey, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 as a rookie, will once again start for the AFC team in 2012.
Congratulations to the Steelers for being selected, however, fans are hinting they\’d rather see \’their boys\’ in Indianapolis rather than Honolulu.
In addition to the 5 Steelers players above, linebacker James Harrison (1st alternate), safety Ryan Clark (2nd) and linebacker LaMarr Woodley (2nd) were named as alternates to the Pro Bowl.
