Chain Gang Old Men Should Be Seen & Not Heard

NHL.com Correspondent Alan Robinson, who previously was the AP Sports writer for the Pittsburgh area, pointed out last night on Twitter that we should go back and watch the guy on chain gang arguing the pass interference call against Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers with 12:28 left in the first half of the Steelers game Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The play in question, was the 2nd down and 6 incomplete pass from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery that was initially flagged as pass interference on Flowers at the Chiefs 1 yard-line. When the cameras cut to the Chiefs sideline immediately after the play, you can see Chiefs head coach Todd Haley arguing the call with the Line Judge and it looks like Haley has help arguing in the form of a Chain Gang member.

Of course we do not know for sure if the old man was indeed arguing the call, but you have to admit he sure looks pretty animated about whatever it is he is yelling about. It is hard to believe that it is not what we think it is. If it is exactly what we think it is, the league office should look into this and put this Chiefs fan back where he belongs, in the stands or at home watching the game on television. I would hate for a bad chain spot to make a difference in a game for a home team.

It should be mentioned that the flag was picked up on the play after the officials huddled to talk about it.
