The Steelers got the first official day of practice in on Wednesday following the 17-10 loss to the Houston Texans this past Sunday. They now prepare to play the Tennessee Titans this Sunday at Heinz Field.
As far as the injury report goes on Wednesday, the Steelers have 10 players listed on it. Cornerback Cortez Allen (ankle), nose tackle Casey Hampton (shoulder), running back Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring), guard Chris Kemoeatu (knee), linebacker James Harrison (eye), running back Mewelde Moore (ankle), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (foot), defensive end Aaron Smith (foot), linebacker Jason Worilds (quad) and wide receiver Hines Ward (not injury related) all did not practice today.
Harrison, Smith, Worilds and Moore are all expected to miss the Sunday game against the Titans. Harrison is recovering after successful surgery this morning to repair his fractured right orbital bone in his face. Smith has a serious mid foot sprain and is still in a walking boot. Moore is still in a boot as well with his ankle sprain. Ward was given his normal Wednesday off and will practice Thursday. Roethlisberger may be limited the rest of the week and the same could go for the rest of the walking wounded. Defensive end Brett Keisel (knee) practiced today and did not show up on the injury report. He expects to return to the starting line-up this week after missing the last two games with a knee sprain.
Ed Bouchette reports that newly signed tackle Max Starks took about half of the snaps with the first team at left tackle today.
For the Titans on Wednesday Wednesday, safety Chris Hope (forearm) did not practice and has already been ruled out for Sunday. kick returner Marc Mariani (hip) and tight end Craig Stevens (rib) also did not practice. Safety Michael Griffin (illness) was limited and linebacker Gerald McRath (knee) practiced fully.
