According to a recent Sports Illustrated poll of NFL players, Steelers linebacker James Harrison was voted as the meanest player in football. Harrison received 35% of the votes and was the easy winner over Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who finished second with 15% of the vote. Rounding out the top 4 were the Lions Ndamukong Suh and the Raiders Richard Seymour.
The poll results were based on 287 NFL players who responded to the SI survey and reportedly 68 players were voted for at least once. The linebacker position lead the way with 13 receiving votes.
There is no word yet if commissioner Roger Goodell will fine Harrison for winning this award. Harrison has been ruled out once again this week against the Jaguars as he recovers from surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone suffered against the Texans back in week 4.
