Sources have informed me that the recent contract that Steelers free agent cornerback Ike Taylor agreed to last week is a a 4 year deal totaling in the neighborhood of $28 million and includes $9 million in guaranteed money. I caution that these numbers are pending as the contract will not be official until filed on Wednesday or Thursday. The deal reportedly includes $9 million in guaranteed money of which $7 million is a signing bonus.
This number is right in line with what I predicted for while and most recently last month. I thought he would come in as an average somewhere in the neighborhood of $7-8 million a year average. These numbers mean that Taylor will be a 2011 cap charge of around $3.7 million in 2011. The most likely scenario with those numbers would be that he plays two more years and can be released with minimal dead money issues after the 2012 season.
