John Harris takes a look at the transition tag numbers and how they could relate to soon to be unrestricted free agent cornerback Ike Taylor. The Steelers risk losing Taylor if not re-signed to a new deal or tagged with the transition tag by 12:01 a.m. Friday. Harris also talks the LaMarr Woodley and Willie Colon situations.
Speaking of Colon, Post Gazette beat writer Ed Bouchette said he talked to Joe Linta, the agent of Colon, who said there is little chance of him being a Steeler in 2011. Of course Linta could just be posturing, but Bouchette seems to believe him. Colon currently is scheduled to be an UFA, but that could indeed change depending how the labor negotiations pan out. Although unlikely, there is a tiny, tiny chance that Colon could be a RFA. Very tiny.
Bucky Brooks of the NFL Network explains which cornerback and safety have much to prove when they hit the field at the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine that is cranking up this week in Indianapolis. Cornerback Jimmy Smith could indeed be a first round target of the Steelers.
The Minnesota Twins star catcher Joe Mauer is scheduled to be in a new Head & Shoulders shampoo commercial with Troy Polamalu. That should be pretty funny.
On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl fulfilled his Super Bowl XLV bet made with Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt by shoveling the walkway of St. Rosalia Parish and he also had to hang the Green Bay flag on the City-County Building portico for a day.
Move over Ben Roethlisberger. I was tweeted this link of 8 year old quarterback Daron Bryden who seems to be progressing nicely as a young quarterback. Watch both the videos below as this kid has mad skills. No word yet if he knows the lyrics to Piano Man by Billy Joel.
